Thiruvananthapuram: The volunteers from Civil Society Organizations across the state were honored in the state level seminar organized at Santhigram for their selfless services for rescue and relief operations. The two days State level seminar reviewed the rescue and relief operations made by the volunteers from NGOs/ CSOs and assessed the effective and efficient interventions made by the organizations. The seminar also decided to plan interventions for the rehabilitation and reconstruction operations for bring back the affected families to the normal life. The seminar has discussed about the role of CSOs for the post rehabilitation phase and extends arms to effective implementation of government schemes along with plan and implements projects and programs for ensuring sustainable livelihood and recovery from the mental stress of the people in affected areas. The meeting was attended by the directors, chief functionaries, representatives and volunteers from 14 districts in the state and identified the areas, where NGOs can involve. The seminar also imparted knowledge and skills to the participants on the water quality checking measures using kits, and enhancing capacities of the volunteers on mental health and counseling related to the disaster affected people in the state. The experts from CCDU Adv. R. Saju, B.K. Mukesh, Sahayi Director G.Placid, Santhigram Wellness center Director Dr. V.Vijayakumar, IPYHA Director Yogacharya D. Sreekantan Nair, Kerala University Research assistant M.I. Bharath Kumar, and KAVAL Project Social Worker M. Maheshwari were facilitated the training sessions. L. Pankajakshan, Director Santhigram, Rony Joseph, Director INFACT and Antony Kunnath, Director, Planet Kerala were facilitated the two days State level Training.
